BandyWorks® Recognized by UVA Darden School of Business as a Leader in Business and Community Development

BandyWorks, a local technology firm specializing in application development, Home Care Technologies, and website design, has been awarded the Tayloe Murphy Resilience Award from the UVA Darden School of Business for overcoming challenging economic times, demonstrating growth, job creation and community leadership.

"Our hope is that these awards help underscore that there are innovative firms across the Commonwealth that create great products and services, jobs and wealth in their communities," said Executive Director of the Tayloe Murphy Center Gregory B. Fairchild, who is an associate professor of business administration at Darden.

Commenting on this award, the Darden School of Business acknowledged the importance of having an international company like BandyWorks located in Petersburg, VA. Citing BandyWorks’ involvement on local development councils, Chambers of Commerce, sponsorship of local activities and schools, the Virginia Governor’s Council on Technology and its global outreach, BandyWorks sets the finest example of corporate citizenry by giving back to the community.

Aside from the recognition received, Tom Bandy will be given a week of business training and education in Charlottesville valued between $8,000 and $12,000, where winners will attend Darden business education classes at the internationally renowned school.

"The award was unexpected and humbling to have been recognized for the efforts of the entire staff, affording BandyWorks to continue the pursuit of world class service to clients and neighbors alike," said Tom Bandy, owner and general manager of BandyWorks. "We’re small enough to provide boutique service, yet global in scope to provide cost efficient projects in a timely manner, we pride ourselves on constant communication and feedback with our client base."
