The Company

Discover Home Care was founded in 2004 by Grace Yancey. Her goal was to provide better quality care to the elderly and others in need than was available at hospitals and nursing facilities. Discover Home Care’s focus was, and still is, to keep their clients out of nursing homes and hospitals, and to keep them in their own homes. The home care agency has grown rapidly over the years, and now serves approximately 100 clients and employs over 90 caregivers in the Tri-cities area within Virginia. They have been recognized by the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce for their outstanding service, and were a semifinalist for the 2010 University of Virginia Darden School of Business Tayloe Murphy Award.



The Challenge

In an attempt to make the administration of home care services simpler, Discover Home Care tried three leading software programs. The result was more of a headache than a help. The software the agency used was not user friendly, and the reports that were necessary to operate the business were not displayed in the desired manner. In addition, features that were pertinent to Discover’s business, such as Telephony, did not function the way the company needed. Finally, much of the software used had to be combined with other software programs in order for it to run adequately. A headache indeed!

The Solution

To create a software solution that helped Discover Home Care solve problems, not add to them, the company met with BandyWorks®. BandyWorks understood the need for user friendly home care software that quickly and effectively integrated with other software in order to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Through this partnership, BandWorks Home Care Technologies was born.
